At Blackhorse Judo Club we teach Judo to children and adults at the Winterbourne Academy, Winterbourne

The Club first opened in September 2005 and has since grown from strength to strength.

Blackhorse Judo Club - Judo in Bristol

After COVID restrictions were lifted, the club reopened on 10 September 2021.

We are now back up and running and happy to greet visitors and new members to our mat.





At Blackhorse Judo Club we teach judo to children and adults in the Sports Hall at the Winterbourne Academy, Bristol (formerly The Ridings International Academy in Winterbourne)

  • Please note: the entrance to the sports hall is at the back of the school, off Flaxpits Lane, so the postcode to use is BS36 1LA, and not the one for the entrance to the school (which is off the High Street.

Session times on Friday evenings:
  • 6.30-7.30 pm Community session – all ages (including beginners)
  • 7.30 – 8.30 pm Community session – 12+ and adults

The Club first opened in September 2005 and has since grown from strength to strength. The club is run by highly qualified black belt coaches with experience of teaching everyone from beginners through to experienced players training for major competitions.

New Judo Classes for Beginners

Blackhorse Judo Club starts new beginners series of judo classes at regular intervals.

Blackhorse Judo Club prides itself in teaching traditional judo under the guidance of the British Judo Council.  We understand that starting a martial art is not the easiest thing, and we do everything to help you learn in a safe and unstressed way.

Look at the sessions above and decide which is the best one for you.  Please phone if you have any questions, we are very happy to talk to you.  To start just come along in a soft t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms.
